Sponge and Shimmer Autumn Leaves

Here's another card we made at Stamp Club this month.  I showed the Sponge & Shimmer technique that I came up with a while ago.  You can see a tutorial I wrote about it on Gingersnap Creations.

We brayered So Saffron ink onto a Very Vanilla panel, sponged on a variety of coordinating inks, then painted the whole piece with a thin coat of the new SU Shimmer paint (love that stuff!).  Once the panel was dry, we stamped it with leaves from Autumn Splendor. 

Here's another card I made using the same technique.  Silhouette stamps work particularly well with this background.

Rustic Rooster

I finally found time to play with this new set - Rustic Rooster.  It's a Level 2 hostess set in the new Stampin' Up! catalog.  I love it - I wish SU made more stamps in this style. 

This is a 6" x 6" card and I used the sketch on today's SCS challenge for the layout.  The technique is called Faux Designer Paper and it appears in this month's issue of Technique Junkie Newsletter.

1. I stamped several images (those that appear white) with Versamark and heat embossed with clear embossing powder. 
2. I sponged various colors of dye ink onto vanilla c/stock and overs tamped more images in those same colors.  (The clear embossed areas resisted the ink). 
3. The clear embossing powder was removed by placing a piece of copy paper over the top and heating with an iron. 
4. Finally, the rooster was stamped on top with black Stazon and the edges sponged with more of the same colors.

• C/stock: close to cocoa & really rust textured, very vanilla, chocolate chip, patterned paper by My Mind's Eye.
• Ink: more mustard, riding hood red, chocolate chip, really rust, black Stazon, Versamark
• Accessories: vintage eyelets, twill tape, clear embossing powder
• Tools: heat gun, cropadile, photo corner punch, iron, sponge

Simple Monet Technique

Sometimes the simple techniques are the best.  I came across this "new to me" technique on Splitcoast a few months ago and had to give it a try.  I stamped the image from Embrace Life with Stazon onto watercolor paper and colored the image with regal rose, so saffron and old olive markers.  I misted a sponge dauber with water and pounced it once or twice on each flower bud so that the ink bled slightly.  To finish the card, I used the Color Spritzer Tool and a regal rose marker.

Faux Silk

I just LOVE the new kiwi kiss/very vanilla satin ribbon.  I can't get enough of it.  This is the first card I made with it - a faux silk card using Eastern Blossoms.  We made this in club last month and the ladies seemed to like it.  Here's an excellent tutorial by Beate Johns on how to stamp a faux silk panel. 

Here's a piece I made for another card that a little more distressed.  I crumpled the tissue paper some more and sponged more ink around the edges.

Recipe:

·         Stamps: Eastern Blossoms, Bella Toile b/ground, All Holidays

·         C/stock: more mustard, tangerine tango, kiwi kiss, whisper white, white tissue paper

·         Ink: old olive & pumpkin markers, more mustard & kiwi kiss ink

·         Accessories: kiwi kiss/very vanilla double-sided satin ribbon, glue stick, dimensionals

·         Tools: small & large oval punches, mat pack (for paper piercing), sponge

Chipboard Projects

Here's an old card I made using four chipboard petals from the On Board Blossoms and Basics set of chipboard.  One of my club members asked what steps I took to color the petals, so here they are:

1. I applied pumpkin pie craft ink directly onto the chipboard.
2. Once this layer was dry (with heat gun to speed it up), I stamped the flowers from Boho Backgrounds with chocolate chip craft ink.
3. Once the stamped flowers were dry, I applied Versamark ink onto the petals directly from the ink pad and embossed it with clear embossing powder.
4. The petals were attached to the vanilla card stock with large glue dots.

• Ink: pumpkin pie craft ink, chocolate chip craft ink, chocolate chip classic ink, versmark
