Stampin' Up! Helps Haiti

Help make a difference in the lives of those who continue to suffer from the effects of the devastating earthquake that struck Haiti on January 12.  From now until February 28, 2010, Stampin' Up!® will set aside $2 from the sale of every I {Heart} Hearts stamp set and donate it to the American Red Cross’ Haiti Relief and Development Fund. The Red Cross is already well-established in Haiti, and this money will be used to provide immediate relief and long-term support through supplies, technical assistance and other support to help those in need.

I was privileged to visited to Haiti 10 years ago when I worked for a non-profit that build homes, hospitals and orphanages there and in other Third World countries.  And it was a sobering experience, to say the very least!  I know that conditions haven't changed much in the last 10 years and the earthquake will only have made the devastating poverty there worse.  It's heart warming to see so many individuals, organizations and corporations donating time and money to help rebuild this country.

Yellow CAS Card

Get your sunglasses ready for this one!  I decided to try a color combination from the Stampin' Up! website: Crushed Curry, Pale Plum, Rich Razzleberry and Almost Amethyst (which I left out).  And now I'm in distress - I discovered that I'm yellow phobic!

I like So Saffron and Barely Banana and I can handle More Mustard during the Fall.  But bright yellows, like Yoyo Yellow or the new Crushed Curry bring me out in hives.  They're just way too bright for my taste.  I will persevere with yellow, although I guess it doesn't help when I decide to use a bright yellow as the card base, now does it!  

To the card.... I made it for today's Clean and Simple challenge on Splitcoast and it measures 5.25 x 5.25".  I stamped the three hearts from Love You Much with Rich Razzleberry onto the two different colored c/stocks and punched them out with the Triple Heart Punch - I love how they line up perfectly!  As a final touch, I added a little liquid Tombo to the hearts and sprinkled with Dazzling Diamonds. 

I could not lay my hands on my Stamp-a-ma-jig and I knew that the sentiment would come out crooked if I didn't use it.  So, I stamped 'Happy Anniversary' from Teeny Tiny Wishes on a scrap, punched it out with the Word Window Punch and dragged the Rich Razzleberry ink pad along the edges to make it stand out a little. 

Stampin' Up!'s final Deal of the Week is the Triple Heart Punch.  And while I was making this card, I wondered why I only use the punch and the coordinating stamp set, Love You Much, for Valentine projects?  They can be used year round for wedding and shower projects, anniversary cards and cute little notes for your kids.  Who knew?

Here's a note book I made with the Top Note and Scallop Circle #2 dies.  I use this note book to record big shot project ideas.  I glued the Raspberry Tart designer paper onto chipboard with a glue stick and then ran it through the Big Shot with the Top Note die.  The inside pages are just plain copy paper that I ran through with the Top Note 10 sheets at a time for a total of 30 pages.

Love You Much

This is one of the first cards I made with the set - how cute are those bird?  I also used my new BIG SHOT (yeah, Santa was good to me!) to make the scallop shape using the Scallop #2 die.  The card measures 4.25" x 4.25".

The sentiment on the Lovely as a Tree card is framed by the big rectangular label holder.

Retirement List

Big oops - I forgot to post the list of retiring Stampin' Up! stamps on my blog!  These sets will be available until August 10.  I will post the list on the side bar too so that you can view any time.  I have quite a few retiring or already retired stamp sets to sell and will post the list here post August 10.  Club members will get first shot at them, then I'll open it up to everyone.

Fresh Cuts

Long time, no blog post!

Just thought I'd stop in to upload some photos of the new Fresh Cuts stamp set that is part of Stampin' Up!'s June special. This set is a sneak peak into next Fall's catalog, which isn't due out until August 21. The set is DIE CUT - yeah and is a pretty good deal at $21.95. When you purchase this set, you can buy the coordinating Fresh Cut Notes for just $5, instead of $8.95. The 4" x 4" note cards are whisper white card stock and have a flower laser cut from the center. There are 15 notes and envelopes in a package.  For pictures of all the sets, click here.

Here are a couple of cards I made with the set:

The main image is stamped with perfect plum ink onto the card front and the  scallop edge at the bottom was made with a corner rounder punch.  There's a piece of perfect plum card stock adhered to the inside of card and a punched barely banana flower. The pale plum flower is made with the Boho Blossoms punch and secured with a brad.

This will probably be one of our club cards this month.

  

The main image on this card is from Fresh Cuts and was stamped onto a piece of white c/stock that had been colored with reinkers and baby wipes. It was stamped with chocolate chip craft ink and embossed with clear embossing powder. The strip of soft sky c/stock was stamped repeatedly with the vines from this set and the celery piece was stamped with Canvas b/ground stamp and close to cocoa ink. Three flat back pearls from the Pretties Kit finish off the card.

I used one of Beate's weekend sketches as the starting point for this card.  It uses the Birthday Whimsy set, which gets my vote as the #1 SAB set.

This also uses Birthday Whimsey.  What's a girl to do when she doesn't have an Easter stamp set?  Snip off the ends of the birthday balloons!

This card uses the Merci set.  This is a great set if you like to watercolor.

This is a criss cross card I made with my stamp club last month.  It uses the Friendship Blooms set, which coordinates nicely with the SAB rub-ons called Love & Happiness.
