New England Stamper

Here's my card for the Crafty Creations Challenge this week - our theme is the farm.  Head over to get tractor loads of inspiration from the design team!

This card came together in a snap.  I stamped the Artistic Outpost image directly onto patterned paper and trimmed.  It's mounted onto Chocolate Chip and Taken with Teal c/stock.  The card base is covered in paper from the same package.  How quick and easy is that?

I'm head over heels in love with this new patterned paper from the Stampin' Up! mini - it's called Autumn Meadows and is perfect for Fall.  The colors are Chocolate Chip, Really Rust, More Mustard, Taken with Teal and Very Vanilla.  The patterns are all distressed and include a wood grain, peeling paint, leaves, stripes and some old graph paper.  Yummy!  It's one of the nicest SU papers for a long time.  It's available to order on September 1st.

Crafty Creations Wednesday

It's time for another Crafty Creations Challenge.  This week's challenge is to use something recycled in your project. I chose a piece of an old love letter I found at a flea market a couple of summers ago.

The technique I used on the orange and yellow background is called Sponge and Shimmer.  If you'd like to check out this technique, I wrote a quick tutorial for it on Gingersnap Creations today.

Shimmery Blue Birds

Today's color challenge on Splitcoast was a stretch because it included Pacific Point.  This is not a color I would ever chose, but that's what challenges are all about, right?  The three colors are:

Pacific Point, Baja Breeze and Garden Green.

I used a sketch by Vicki Chrisman for the layout of the card and a lovely Artistic Outpost image from a sheet called BlueBird.  The main panel was created in the following steps:

1. The vanilla base was brayered with Cloudy Blue ink (Adirondack).
2. The botton of panel was sponged with Lettuce (Adirondack), Peeled Paint (Ranger Distress Ink), Garden Green (Stampin' Up!).
3. The top of panel was sponged with Baja Breeze, Brilliant Blue and Night of Navy inks (all SU).
4. Blue Bird image (Artistic Outpost) was stamped with Night of Navy craft ink (SU) and heat embossed with clear embossing powder.
5. Celery Shimmerz was painted over the entire panel.  (I'm still loving my Shimmerz!)

It sounds like a lot of steps, but it didn't take long at all.

The rest is pretty straightforward - the baja breeze panel was dry embossed with a Cuttlebug embossing folder and sponged with garden green ink.  A couple of strips of c/stock, ribbon and some vintage buttons.
