Christmas Scrapbook in a Box

Please don't think I'm ahead of the game and scrapbooking my Christmas pictures from this year - 2009.  Nope, the pictures I put into this Scrapbook in a Box are from 2007!  It's a start, right?  It was actually a special Christmas because it's the last one we spent in the UK and it was my niece's first Christmas - she was only a couple of months old.  I plan to put a little journaling in the empty squares.

The project is one we made in Stamp Club this month and we used the Christmas Jingle Simply Scrappin' kit.  These kits are perfect for this project - you can get 3 boxes from one kit if you use the patterned paper as the box lids.

Blogging Break

Apparently I've been on a bit of blogging break!  I'm taking care of some family matters and traveling overseas, so sadly this break will continue into December.

Here are a couple Top Note boxes that we made in stamp club this month.  They're hybrids of lots of similar projects I've seen posted online, so I'm not sure who to give credit to.  One great source of inspiration is Tammy at Dream, Create and Share.

Build-a-Bear Day Five - Crayon Pouch

Welcome to the final day of Build-a-Bear week here on New England Stamper.  Here's a project we did last month in stamp club - a little crayon pouch.  It could be used as a gift, party favor or for a sick child.

Inside the card are six 5" x 3" index cards stamped with the bear image and some crayons in a plastic bag for the child to color the bears with.

The card base measures 4" x 12" (so you can get 3 from a 12" x 12" sheet of c/stock).  And you score the card at 1.25", 1.5" and 6.75".  If you have any questions about this pouch, leave a comment and I'd be happy to answer them.

Build-a-Bear Day Four - Journal

Welcome to day four of Build-a-Bear week!  I have several projects to share with you today.  The first is a journal that would be a great project to make with kids.  The base is cover is a sheet of 8.5" x 11" c/stock folded in half - how easy is that? The inside pages are computer paper, so the project is not only easy to make, but inexpensive too.

At the Stampin' Up! regionals in Portland, ME at the weekend they were some adorable BAB samples on display.  Check out this party hat and fun On Board journal.

Build-a-Bear Day Three - Santa's Cookies

Welcome to Day Three of Build-a-Bear week on New England Stamper.  I have another swap project I'd like to share with you today.  It was made by the very talented Jane Walker.  I was so excited to receive this one because I don't have the Beary Merry die.  And this project is so much fun. 

I believe you put it next to the plate of cookies you leave out for Santa.  The scallop squares are made of chipboard and stand up very nicely.  Thanks for the gorgeous project, Jane!

Red, White and Blue Cupcakes

I promise this will be last red, white and blue creation for a while - honest!  I received some newly released stamps from Pink Persimmon last week and when I saw the Flower Greetings set, I knew instantly that I wanted to make cupcake picks with it. 

I saw later that Pink Persimmon had a cupcake challenge on their blog, so that made up my mind - cupcake picks it was.  We have a red, white and blue challenge on the Gingersnap Creations blog, so my colors were all set too. 

The picks are wooden kebab sticks from the grocery store.  I cut them down to about 6" with my rubber scissors (probably not very good for my scissors) and colored in the top portion with a copic marker.  The section that is stuck in the cake has no marker - I'm guessing that the marker wouldn't taste good, although it is an alcohol marker - hmmmm.

The satin ribbon rosette and all the layers on top of it are stuck to a 1 3/8" circle with a large glue dot, and taped to the back of the kebab stick with a piece of Scotch tape.  Here's a closer look at the medallions:

They are a little time consuming to make, but so much fun.  I can't wait to make them for my daughter's birthday in August.

Pink Persimmon Clipboard

Pink Persimmon is turning one this month and to celebrate they have some challenges on their blog.  I made this project for their pink and orange challenge.  I saw this clipboard on Michelle Wooderson's blog last year and have wanted to make one ever since. 

I used Pink Persimmon's large Banner Set to create the 'notes' banner at the top.  I stamped the individual banners onto Claudine Hellmuth's sticky-backed canvas, colored them with Copic markers and painted Pink Shimmerz over the top.  Once they were dry, I stamped the letters and cut them out.  To create the banner, I removed the plastic backing, stuck them to a piece of orange rick rack and attached this to the clipboard with buttons.

The clothes pegs were covered with patterned paper and are permanently attached with Judikin's Art Gel.  I think the rest is fairly self explanatory.  If you have any questions, feel free to drop me a line.

Wood Wows

Wowzers - you have to check out what the Shimmerz Design Team created this week!  Those ladies utterly rock. 

Our challenge was to make a project using wood and Shimmerz. I started with this unfinished photo cube that I found at Michaels on clearance for $1.

I sprayed on several coats of Eucalyptus Shimmerz Spritz and allowed it to dry overnight - yes that required patience!  I wrapped a piece of Basic Grey patterned paper (Wisteria) and a piece of scallop edged white c/stock around the middle.  Then finished it off with a piece of white satin ribbon and a button (doesn't every project need a button?).

Spritz is here!

It's official - you can now purchase the new Shimmerz Spritz in twenty fabulous colors! (Note: on the Shimmerz site, you need to scroll down to the bottom of the page to see the new Spritz colors).  I'll be posting projects over the next few days, but here's one to start you off. 

This was a humble candle I bought from Michaels craft store for a couple of dollars.  With some patterned paper, a silk rose and some Shimmerz Spritz, it's now a special gift for someone.

Here's now I made it:

• I attached Graphic 45 patterned paper onto the glass candle with sticky strip. 

• I lightly misted the wired ribbon with Babys Breath Spritz, tied it around the candle and attached a stamped, tea-dyed shipping tag.

• I liberally sprayed Bed of Roses Spritz onto this beautiful silk rose by Prima.

• I covered the candle lid with the same patterned paper and attached the rose with foam dimensionals and sticky strip.

I could never have achieved this look on the rose or ribbon without the Shimmerz Spritz - it would have been impossible with paint or ink.  I'm looking forward to trying it on lots of different three dimensional objects and large areas of c/stock and paper - it's going to be a lot of fun.  Stay tuned.....
