Daisy Wreath

Good morning!  If you need a creative challenge, why not head over to Crafty Creations, where this week's challenge is to use butterflies on your project.  The great thing about this blog is that it doesn't have to be a paper craft, it can be any type of craft.  And the prize this week is awesome - it's a beautiful, hand crafted bracelet from Shooting Star Jewelry.

Here's the butterfly project I made for the challenge - a wreath of daisies with butterflies.

Both the daisies and butterflies are die cuts available from Stampin' Up! -Daisies #2 and Beautiful Butterflies.  The wreath base is made of wood and the flowers are attached with lots of sticky strip and dimensionals. 

The die-cut butterflies were covered with Versamark ink and heat embossed with Iridescent Ice embossing powder.

DIY Shimmery White

I love to use shimmering white card stock, but it's pretty expensive.  I usually buy the Stampin' Up!'s Shimmery White Cardstock ($7.95 for 10 sheets) and Papertrey also offers a White Shimmer Cardstock ($8 for 12 sheets). 

When I was making this card today, I was excited to discover that I could make my own with Babys Breath Shimmerz Spritz!  I spritzed a piece of Papertrey Stampers Select White cardstock with one fine coat of the Spritz and it looked exactly like Shimmery White cardstock.  I'm so happy because I love to use this cardstock but am always afraid to use my stash because of the cost.  Take a look!

Sweet & Simple Strawberry

I know it's supposed to be Sweet & Simple Saturday and it's Sunday - but it's a holiday weekend here in the States, so I cut myself some slack.

I love Sharon Johnson's Stamp Simple Challenges and her challenge this week is to use red, white and blue on a card.  So, I blew the dust off my SU Tart and Tangy set and came up with this quick little number.

Metal Challenge

I'm hosting the challenge over at Crafty Creations this week and it's all about metal.  You can add metal to your project in the form of a brad or charm, alter something metal or even make some jewelry.  And the prize this week is awesome - a pair of beautiful earrings from The Earring Boutique.

 

Here's the project I created - an altered Altoid tin to hold a gift card. 

The cream satin ribbon was dyed with Bed of Roses Spritz.  The chipboard heart was covered with white craft ink, sponged with ink, spritzed with Bed of Roses and then heat embossed with clear embossing powder.

Spritz is here!

It's official - you can now purchase the new Shimmerz Spritz in twenty fabulous colors! (Note: on the Shimmerz site, you need to scroll down to the bottom of the page to see the new Spritz colors).  I'll be posting projects over the next few days, but here's one to start you off. 

This was a humble candle I bought from Michaels craft store for a couple of dollars.  With some patterned paper, a silk rose and some Shimmerz Spritz, it's now a special gift for someone.

Here's now I made it:

• I attached Graphic 45 patterned paper onto the glass candle with sticky strip. 

• I lightly misted the wired ribbon with Babys Breath Spritz, tied it around the candle and attached a stamped, tea-dyed shipping tag.

• I liberally sprayed Bed of Roses Spritz onto this beautiful silk rose by Prima.

• I covered the candle lid with the same patterned paper and attached the rose with foam dimensionals and sticky strip.

I could never have achieved this look on the rose or ribbon without the Shimmerz Spritz - it would have been impossible with paint or ink.  I'm looking forward to trying it on lots of different three dimensional objects and large areas of c/stock and paper - it's going to be a lot of fun.  Stay tuned.....

Club Member Challenge Cards

The challenge I gave to my Stamp Club last month was to create a monochromatic card and boy did they rise to the challenge!  I'm so proud of these wonderful cards they created!

Time for Tea

For today's card I cracked open my new Papertrey stamps that my daughter gave me for Mothers' Day - she knows how to win her mummy's heart!  It's called Tea for Two and aside from having several really cute teapots, the sentiments are really adorable. They are perfect for the cards to send to your girlfriends.

 

I made the card for today's Clean and Simple challenge on Splitcoaststampers - my favorite challenge of the week!  The challenge was to use only black, white and one bright color on your card.  For my bright color I chose Papertrey's Raspberry Fizz and I added black accents with the sentiment, black dots on the scalloped oval and the Making Memories ribbon.

For the layout, I was inspired by sketch on Clean & Simple Stamping that they posted several weeks ago.  If you love CAS cards, subscribing to their blog is a must.

Sweet & Simple Saturday

Good morning!  This week's Sweet & Simple project is a one-layer card that I made as thank you cards for my stamp club members.  I made 20 of them in just over an hour, which works for me because I really don't like mass producing cards. 

It's hard to see in the photo, but I inked the image with Pumpkin Pie ink and then touched the tops of the flowers with a ruby red marker.  I think the Dazzling Diamonds is hiding the color, but you can't live out sparkle, right!

Sparkling news...

Shimmerz are about to (re)launch their Shimmerz Spritz and it's just fabulous.  I've been playing with it all week and it's so much fun.  I've spritzed everything in sight!
