Today's Try a New Technique challenge on SCS was to make a tea bag holder. I've wanted to make one of these for a while and it looked a pretty quick project, so I gave it a try.
The stamp set is Hot Stuff from My Favorite Things. The base is wild wasabi card stock and measures 9.75" x 3.75". Lines were scored on the long side at 3.25" and 6.5". I cut slits in the center of the folds to thread the wild wasabi stitched ribbon through and secured it in a couple of places with sticky strip
The image was stamped on watercolor paper with brown Stazon and colored with Stampin' Up! markers. I used the Signo white pen for the polka dots on her dress - a (feeble) attempt to tie it into the stitched ribbon. It was matted on regal rose and chocolate chip card stock. The cover has tea cups stamped in old olive because the challenge stated no patterned paper - sob! It was very hard to resist using Fall Flowers for this one, but I stuck to the rules!
The inside is pretty basic with a sentiment stamped with close to cocoa ink on very vanilla and matted on chocolate chip c/stock. The original stamp says "coffee and friends ... the perfect blend", so I used a marker directly on two different stamps to achieve the phrase I wanted. I think I'll make up a few of these for my girlfriends. They'll serve as a reminder that even though the busy holiday season is almost upon us, we should still find time to get together for a cup of tea.
